Kaiserfost is a 100% natural herb and alpine root bitter produced by hand from the infusion and distillation of 47 carefully selected botanicals (including artemisia absintha, mint, liquorice, star anise, rhubarb, cinchona, cloves, and others) to which only a very low quantity of sugar and high-quality grain alcohol is added.
The recipe used derives from the ancient recipe of the Valentini Distilleries dating back to 1932 for a bitter made from herbs and roots gathered in the Trentino region. It has recently been revised along with its appearance, adding selected botanicals that best perform in blending, such as ginger root and cardamom. Once finished, Kaiserfost is aged six months in French oak barriques previously used for Valentini Brandy. Kaiserfost can be enjoyed straight before and after a meal, at room temperature or chilled, but it is also the ideal base for creating thirst-quenching and natural cocktails and long drinks, such as Kaiser-Mule.
